My Family

My family is large and a little crazy! Jason and I have been together 8 years in December. We have lived together for 7 years. I moved in with him when I went away to college. Over that time we have collected a number of other family members!

The first is Guru.

Guru is the love of our lives and our firstborn. He is a doberman pinscher that we adopted from the humane society. He is very small due to a lack of proper nutrition the first few months of his life. He also developed color dilution alopecia which is common in blue dobermans. Last February we got more tough news Guru, our 5 year old dog, had developed osteosarcoma. The cancer is aggressive and had taken over his right leg. After many tough discussions we decided to amputate his leg to help control the pain and cancer. He then had Chemo treatments and he continues to thrive. The cancer has not yet spread to his lungs which is very good. We will find out on December 8 whether his lungs are still clear!

The next addition to our family was Sugar Magnolia better known as Count Scratchula.
We added her to our family about a year after we adopted Guru. I was working at a childcare center and one of the moms found a box of kittens. I went over to see them and while they were all cute there was just something about the Count. She was gorgeous and still is. She is about twice this size and super fluffy. She is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen! She is also the loner of our crew.

Shadow was our next add on.
Shadow was rescued from my mama. Haha. Really he was my family pet when I was in high school. I missed him terribly and when we watched him while my mom was on a trip, we decided not to give him back. Shadow is 10 years old and 100 pounds. He is the sweetest of all of our animals! He is always doing funny things like trying to squeeze his big self into the tiniest dog bed or dancing!

Tom Cat was added next to last!
After reading up on cats we decided the Count needed a playmate. So we adopted Tom from a local rescue. He had been placed with a family who had two small children and they gave him back because he was "shy". Tom is the most outgoing cat I have ever met. He gets in there and plays with the dogs, he loves to lay on your lap, he is far from shy! How does the Count like him you ask? She doesn't! She now needs kitty Prozac to deal with her crazy life!

Finally we saved PorkChop from the pound!
PorkChop was added because we wanted a doberman but we did not want a purebred dog. We saw him on petfinder at our local pound and just went to look. Well after looking we could not leave his sweet face behind, so we took him home that day! After signing the papers we saw he had been there for two whole weeks and he was probably on his way to the Euthanasia, so we were glad we decided to take him on. He has been a blast. He is full of energy and Guru loves playing with him!

Although our pets are crazy and make our house messy we love each and every one of them. We have however, enstated a rule that we will only have 3 pets at a time in the future!

I have decided to actually start using this blog. I have been tossing around the idea for awhile and although I feel I have nothing interesting to say I am going to write anyway!
I recently married my boyfriend of a little over 7 years. It was a nice ceremony which included our closest family members. We were married on October 11, at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast. The innkeeper took care of all of the details and Jason and I just had to show up. It was a wonderfully relaxing way to enter a new phase in our lives.

My dress was beautiful and was on deep discount!
I only paid $30.21! I love bargain shopping!!
It was the perfect dress for the occasion simple yet elegant.

The day after our wedding we woke up early to go watch the sunrise over the lake. It was so gorgeous and a great way to start our lives as husband and wife.

This is our self portrait while watching the sunrise.

This is me all wrapped up in our wedding quilt pretending to be a skilled photographer!
This is the gorgeous sunset.

This is the mink we saw running amongst the rocks!
It was cute.

That concludes my first post. In the next post I will introduce our little family!
